Another term is over, I'm still not happy with the last assignment, but as i have learned over the last year, an animation is never finished just handed in when the deadline is met (if that makes sense?). I plan to go right through all my shots with fresh eyes at the end of class 6.

So I'm back at AM after a full 2 days holiday, I'm really excited to have Pixar animator Bret Parker as my mentor this term. She has worked on many of the their films (Check out her link).
She was also the voice behind Kari the babysitter in The Incredibles.

So this is my progress reel for class 3. The first shot (Flipping Burgers) will be completed in the first 3 weeks of class 4, so it only has the limited facial rig.

So last week I started class 2, I'm so excited, I've got another awesome mentor this term; Keith Sintay, He has worked on some of my favourite films, including I Am Legend, Beowulf, Monster House & Surfs up. This week we learned about Squash & Stretch. We had to throw a ball round an obstacle course using this principle to give our ball life. We also had to do a devastated Stu pose.

First animation!
It's just a bouncing ball, but it really is a lot harder than it looks. This first bounce of many had to show the weight of a basket ball or a football. I also had to sketch and pose out Stu showing excitement.

It’s the 3rd week already!
Last week we got our first assignment (we just had to introduce ourselves the first week).
We had to go out and sketch people then pose our favourite in 3D with our first character 'Stu'.

After waiting 8 months since applying I can finally log into Animation Mentor.com.
I can't wait to get animating.
My mentor is Raquel Coelho; She has worked on Happy Feet, Charlotte's Web, The Spiderwick Chronicles & Blue Sky's academy award winning short Bunny. It really is amazing to know that Im studying under such a talented animator, I already know that Im going to learn so much from her.

So here we go, 18 months of hardcore animation.

Welcome to my blog,

To start with I can say that I will hopefully be starting Animation Mentor next month which im really excited about. If you didn't know, Animation Mentor is an amazing online animation school that focuses on character animation and is taught by some of the top animators in the industry. Check out their website at http://www.animationmentor.com/

My plan is to use this blog to document my journey as I progress through the school and basically to add anything else I might think or see at the time.
